The Chelsea forward has had enough of waiting around in London, so he’s gone ahead and submitted an official transfer request

Catalan striker Marc Guillem has been in the news lately because of some transfer rumors. Even though Spanish media is reporting that the player officially requested to be transferred because he hasn’t been playing much, people in London are saying some pretty confusing things about what the 20-year-old forward is planning to do.

Marc Guiho has decided he’d rather not settle for a rotational role at Chelsea. According to sport.es, the Catalan forward has asked the club for a transfer and plans to change teams as early as this summer.

Giu moved to London in the summer of 2024 after transferring from Barcelona. At the time, Chelsea paid €6 million for the striker and signed him to a contract until 2029, thinking of him as an investment in the future. But the big breakthrough we were expecting hasn’t happened yet.

In the 2025/26 season, the forward played 11 matches in all competitions, playing 447 minutes, scoring two goals, and providing two assists. He last played on January 14 in a League Cup match against Arsenal, where he played 53 minutes. Since then, he’s been out for ten matches in a row.

We thought about the possibility of a loan in the winter, but the transfer didn’t end up happening. Earlier, Giu had already tried to restart his career by changing roles—he went to Sunderland, which returned to the Premier League, but the Londoners recalled him after Liam Delap’s injury and Nico Jackson’s departure.

Even after he returned, the coaching staff never fully trusted him. According to British sources, the club gets that the player just wants to play more and be seen as a key team member. They expect the situation to be sorted out over the summer, and Giu will look for a new club where he can play regularly.
