At 40, Brighton midfielder James Milner solidified his place as one of the most enduring athletes in football history. After the match against Brentford in February 2026, he got three official certificates from the Guinness Book of Records.
The 40-year-old Milner played his 654th English Premier League game against Brentford, surpassing the achievements of former Aston Villa and Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry. James got three Guinness World Records awards, according to the BBC.
Milner holds a bunch of Premier League records. For example, he scored the most goals in a single Premier League season (22 years and 248 days). He also scored the most goals in a Premier League career (24 goals). And he spent 24 consecutive seasons in the Championship. “When I was younger, I used to get a Guinness World Records book every Christmas. So it’s pretty amazing,” Milner said about his awards.
The midfielder made his English championship debut back in the 2002/03 season with Leeds in a match against West Ham (4:3).
