Matt Quinn, the U.S. Secret Service Deputy Director, said that the police got a report about a suspicious guy with a weapon in the White House area. Then, plainclothes agents showed up and started watching him without getting noticed.

Then, more forces joined the operation. When the cops tried to arrest him, things got real bad—he pulled out a gun and started shooting.

The Secret Service responded to the threat. We don’t know yet if the attacker was caught or if anyone got hurt in the incident.

The incident happened in the afternoon in an area with increased security because it’s close to government buildings and the official residence of the U.S. president.
