An unusual option: Ford is offering electric car buyers the option to pay an additional $500 for a trunk

Ford has found an original way to lower the starting price of its Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. Starting with the 2026 model, the front trunk (frunk) is no longer included in the base model and is now an additional cost.

This change was noticed in the configurator for the 2026 model year of the Ford Mustang Mach-E for the North American market. In the US, the price of the model has dropped by about $1,000: it now starts at $37,795. However, the equipment has become somewhat poorer. The 81-liter front compartment, known as the frunk, is now an option.
