The low-cost airline Wizz Air is growing its presence in Moldova by basing a fifth plane at Chisinau Airport starting September 18, 2026. This will let the airline add 500,000 more seats and fly more often on 10 routes to Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus, and the Czech Republic. This expansion is especially important for Ukrainian travelers who use Chisinau as a key transit hub.
Wizz Air, a budget airline from Hungary, just announced that it’s going to be operating more flights out of Chisinau Airport in Moldova. This airport is one of the easiest places for Ukrainians to fly to when they’re traveling abroad.
As the airline’s website says, on September 18, 2026, they’ll transfer a fifth Wizz Air plane to the Chisinau base. That’ll let the airline add over 500,000 passenger seats and increase flight frequency on ten direct routes to key European cities:
- Italy: Venice, Bergamo, Bologna, Verona
- France: Paris, Nice
- Belgium: Brussels
- Germany: Berlin
- Cyprus: Larnaca
- Czech Republic: Prague
Right now, the airline serves 35 destinations in 16 countries from Moldova.
